Business for West Virginia (Business4WV) is a joint project of West Virginia state agencies that serve business needs through registration, licensing and permitting. The privacy requirements of federal law and West Virginia Code and the privacy policies of all participating state agencies are maintained by Business for West Virginia.

User Data Collection

When you visit www.Business4WV.com the following information may be collected:

• The name of your domain, such as www.yourcompany.com;
• The type of browser and operating system used to access our sites;
• The IP address of the client accessing the web site;
• The Internet address of the website from which you linked directly to our sites, if applicable;
• The pages you visit within the Business4WV; and/or
• The links made to other websites through our sites.

This information is collected to help us improve the content and performance of the site and is not released for commercial purposes.

Applicant Data Collection and Use

Data collected from account holders and applicants through the www.Business4WV.com site is distributed only to participating state agencies as required for any agency’s specific processing and record retention requirements.  No user or applicant data is released to the public except by the individual agencies according to the provisions of law, rule and policy.

Any information classified as public information under the West Virginia Freedom of Information Act W.V.C.A. §§ 29B-1-1 et seq., or other applicable laws is subject to disclosure by the agency charged with collecting and maintaining the specific information.  All requests for public information under the Freedom of Information Act should be directed to the appropriate agency.

The Business for West Virginia project and any participating agency may directly release summary and statistical data related to online filings through the Business4WV site, providing that data does not identify any individual applicant.

Specific business information provided as required for the Secretary of State to establish or register a corporation, limited liability company, limited partnership, limited liability partnership, voluntary association, business trust, or unincorporated voluntary association is classified as public information.  This information is released by the Secretary of State through the online business database at www.wvsos.com.

Other registration information, especially information provided for post-startup registrations such as professional and occupational licensing, regulatory registration and permitting, may be released by the agency collecting that information as required or allowed by law.
